How the Bogotá ride went
On September 20 we rode from Chía to Patios along the Vals route, the last group training ride before La 10. Diego Guauque's 413 photos are out, free.
On Sunday, September 20, we held the last training ride in Bogotá before La 10. At 7:15 a.m. we rolled out from El Gallo, the bike-workshop café on the Autopista Norte in Chía, and finished at KOM Patios along the Vals route: Cajicá, Sopó, Salitre and La Calera.
The route
- Start: El Gallo, Autopista Norte, kilometre 20, Chía. 7:15 a.m.
- Finish: KOM Patios.
- Vals route: Cajicá, Sopó, Salitre and La Calera.
- Distance: 51.75 km, with 716 m of climbing.
- Estimated time: about two and a half hours.
If you want to ride it on your own, here is the reference GPX, drawn from the organisation’s map (56.3 km and 769 m). On the day, the group set the route.
Getting there safely, with Bykal
To get to the start, Bykal Ruta Segura organised three escorted routes from different points of Bogotá to El Gallo, meeting at 5:50 and rolling out at 6:00:
- Clínica Occidente, Avenida Boyacá, Calle 170, C. C. Panamá and El Gallo.
- Portal 80, NQS, Autopista Norte, Bomba 142 and El Gallo.
- Parque Nacional, Carrera 7.ª, Calle 127, Carrera 9.ª, Calle 170 and El Gallo.
The call also included a motorcycle escort and mechanical support on the road, photography and, at KOM Patios, a raffle of entries for the race on October 11.
The photos: 413, free
Diego Guauque, the GFBM’s official photographer, took 413 photos of the ride. They are all in the album: find yourself and download them for free, full size or in Instagram story format.
